It's amazing how easy it is to let time slip through your fingers, doing nothing of consequence. When I'm not in school, the days tend to melt into one another, time seems to accelerate until before I know it, the next semester has started and I've got nothing to show for an entire month off of school. Not this time. I have so many ideas for projects floating around in my head, and I'm determined to complete them. I want to write every day too--short stories, part of a novel I'm working on, poems, everything. I love to write, but sitting down and making myself do it is the hardest part.

Anyway, yep, I dyed my hair bright red! I was getting tired of the blonde and it's very hard to manage. I feel more me with red hair, maybe because I was a redhead for two years in high school. I absolutely love how the color and cut turned out. My hairdresser is a goddess (shout out to Whitney if you're reading this!). As for the outfit, I like to think of this as my Charlie Brown sweater. It's quite comfy and you know me and my love of neon.

Sorry for the prolonged absence once again. I've been feeling very unenthusiastic toward many things lately, and blogging has fallen by the wayside. I get in style ruts, and can't seem to stop wearing variations of the same outfit over and over. Does this happen to any of you? I certainly don't want to post things that I didn't like wearing, so that's made my posts few and far between these days. Final exams and the semester are now over, so hopefully I'll have more time to put my creative energies to work and get some decent outfits on!

At any rate, I wore this sometime last week. I love these Nike Dunks. I know I wear them all the time, but they are pretty damn comfortable and cute to boot.

The beginning of finals week is upon us. It's hard to believe that the semester is almost over, but I am definitely relieved. It's been rather grey and rainy for the past few days, so I thought today needed a pop of color in my outfit. My brain is kind of not working right now, so sorry if this post is completely incoherent. I must rid my mind of everything but Italian and breathing.

Side note: does anyone else watch American Horror Story? I watched all the episodes that are currently out this weekend, and it is quite an amazing show. It's so clever and makes you think you know what is going on, only to pull the rug out from under you. I am in love and can't wait for this week's episode!

I have decided that I must force myself to wear scarves less. They have become almost a security blanket for me, and sometimes it feels as though I'm using scarves to hide behind. No longer! I don't want to get stuck in a fashion rut and wear the same thing every day, and I definitely wear scarves almost all the time. So this is the first scarf-free outfit I've worn in a while!

I love these tights, but unfortunately, the zipper of my boots ripped a whole in the left leg. Lesson learned: never wear these boots and these tights together again.

Hello, my lovely readers! It seems like it's been ages since I've talked to you. Did everyone have a good Thanksgiving? Mine was filled with three kinds of pie. It was glorious. I can't believe that Christmas (and the end of the semester) is right around the corner. Then it will be a magical month of watching TV shows on Hulu, baking, and sitting around in my pajamas all day. Bliss.

Anyway, I come bearing an outfit post! I know I've been wearing this combination of socks, tights, and Converse a lot recently, but it just goes so well together. Plus it keeps my feet warm. Also, my penchant for neon rears its head yet again. This shirt was like eight dollars, so you know I couldn't resist.

This outfit elicited many stares and whispers today, but I'm okay with that. I love the bright colors of the sneakers and how they are kind of mimicked in the print of the dress. My Christmas list looks like a box of crayons vomited all over it, so expect similar outfits in the future.

Gray days like today make me want to curl up with a nice book in a large armchair and spend the day immersed in a story. Unfortunately, I have to go to college, where there are no comfy armchairs or fun books to read. I apologize for the quality of these photos. The light makes everything look all weird, and I swear, my scarf is actually magenta and not red as it appears. STUPID GRAY LIGHT.

Anyway, I got these awesome sneakers for my birthday (thanks Mom!) and I love the liberty print. It adds a feminine touch to a masculine shape. And as we all know, I will never turn down a cool pair of high tops.

Side note: I feel like I have less and less time to devote to this blog, and it makes me sad! I love sharing my outfits with like-minded fashion lovers and gaining inspiration from style bloggers, but between school and work, I have less time to make this blog amazing. Do you all have any tips for overcoming this time crunch? How do you make it work? I feel like I might've asked something simliar before, but advice would be greatly appreciated! I'd love to be able to devote a set amount of time a day to just the writing on my blog (I love to write), but I feel like I shouldn't when I have homework to do. Curse you, perfectionism!

I've literally had the busiest past couple of days! I started my new job Thursday and went home this weekend to celebrate my birthday, which is actually today. The highlight of the weekend, though, was seeing the Starkids perform live at the House of Blues in Dallas. For those of you who don't know them, the Starkids are a group of performers from Michigan who have written five musicals, including "A Very Potter Musical." The most well-known of the group is Darren Criss, who I don't particularly care for, but I always mention because he has gained mainstream success. I love the whole group of performers, though, and it was such a blast to meet them and see them perform live.

Anyway, I think I wore this Friday? I am so off track with my postings anymore! But yep, a pretty standard doing errands outfit. I've pretty much wore those sneakers every day last week. Oops.

Man, this is one of those weeks where I'm actually thankful for Wednesday! Halfway through the week...let's do this. Anyway, I registered for classes today and ended up getting everything I wanted. I decided to be a wimp and take 14 hours, which is going to seem like more because one class I'm taking is apparently very time consuming. I am excited to take more journalism classes, though, and really start learning about the production aspect of things. Plus, my good friend is going to take two journalism classes with me, so that'll be fun.

At any rate, today's outfit! For some reason, wearing socks with high top Converse reminds me of basketball players from the 1950s. I really have no idea how this association came about in my mind, but there you go. It was cold today and I didn't want my feet to freeze!

I took the plunge and decided to try a trend that I've been a little wary of: bodycon skirts. I have an aversion to skirts being too tight and too short, but thought I'd give it a shot after I spotted this adorable skirt at Forever 21 the other day. Other than the fact that my skirt kept inching it's way up my legs, threatening to expose my ass to the whole campus, I actually thought I looked cute today. Sometimes it's nice to get out of my comfort zone and try something new!

Do you ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day? That's what it's been like this whole week. I'm working on an investigative reporting piece for one of my classes about prostitution in Dallas, so I've literally spent almost every day this week with the police. Definitely not your typical week!

As a result of all this school business, I've had little time to devote to blogging, a fact that bothers me. How do those of you who have full time jobs or are full time students and blog balance your obligations? I really want to make this little corner of the internet the best that I can, and I hate to keep stiffing you guys of posts! Do you have any tips? At any rate, this is what I wore for (most of) yesterday, until I spilled salad dressing on my shirt. How I function, I don't know.

Also, I got another job! I had an interview at the gym at school and I start on Thursday, so I'm pretty pumped. It's only two days a week and you can do your homework while you're there. Score.

Happy Halloween, everyone! Did you guys do anything fun to celebrate? This year, I dressed up as a crotchety college student sitting alone in her apartment and studying for a test. Creative, I know. Anyway, I kind of unintentionally dressed like Velma from Scooby Doo today, although my shirt isn't a turtleneck. I don't know, something about this color combination and the plaid just made me think of Velma. Perhaps I am losing my mind.

Totally Baked: Chocolate Chip Cookies

I know I'm always talking about giving you guys recipes, and I finally remembered to take some photos of my latest baked treat today! I literally bake something almost every weekend, so the fact that I'm just now getting around to posting a recipe is unacceptable.

Anyway, since my old computer broke, I lost all of my bookmarked recipes. I knew I wanted to make something today, so I picked a classic and a treat that's fairly easy: chocolate chip cookies. They turned out to be quite delicious! Definitely will be making them again.

Recipe from Sunny Side Up in San Diego:
Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups all purpose flour

2 tsp cornstarch

1 tsp baking soda

3/4 tsp kosher salt

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl then add the egg and vanilla and mix until well combined.

Mix in flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Stir in the chocolate chips

Drop rounded tablespoons of dough, or with cookie scoop, onto a prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until barely golden brown around the edges.

Let the cookies cool on the cookie sheet for five minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.

Wow, I'm so sorry for the unintentional silence this week! This has probably been one of the most hectic weeks in recent memory for me. On Tuesday I spilled water all over my laptop, resulting in a two hour trip to the Apple store, a disc with my school files on it, and a new laptop. Thank god for my savings account. At any rate, I've been swamped with schoolwork as well this week, so finding time to blog has been relegated to the back burner!

But now I'm back, and with this awesome new dress! Funny (or not so funny, more like stupid) story: I came home from school and I thought that the package had been stolen. It said it was delivered, but I couldn't find it. However, I have two doors into my apartment (which is weird), one being the main door and one in the kitchen. I decided to check by the kitchen door and there it was! See, I told you it was stupid. Me being completely stressed out didn't help the whole staying calm factor.

Anyway, this dress is seriously my new favorite. Sorry the photos are so crappy. It's been rainy, gray and cold all day, but I'm not complaining! The print is so rad. Food all over a dress? Count me in. My one complaint: It is a bit big in the chest and waist, but that is because I have next to no boobs, really narrow shoulders, and a very small waist. So off to the tailor I go!

The Nature of Blogging

I've seen a few posts floating around about the issue of blogging itself recently, namely from Sara of Cartoon Heart and Kaelah of Little Chief Honeybee, so I thought I'd add my two cents because it truly is an issue that I think about almost weekly.

There is no doubt that the face of fashion blogging has changed enormously throughout the past few years. What was once merely a hobby for the sartorially inclined has morphed into an industry of sorts, with companies eager to promote their products through bloggers who already have a built-in audience. Fashion blogging is a fickle friend. Who is "popular" on the internet seems to be in constant rotation. And if you don't have the resources or know-how to make a well curated blog, then you're stuck, no matter how creative your style is.

The posts I linked to above make some interesting points: as bloggers, does the credibility of an individual come into question when they frequently receive products from companies? Does the amount of money you are able to spend on clothing effect your blog's popularity? Both important questions, and I've got a few of my own to add. When does blogging stop being about genuinely enjoying interacting with readers and the fashion community online and when does it become simply an effort to gain sponsorships and free merchandise? It is becoming more apparent that many "popular" bloggers have developed a simliar look, and tend to follow trends (hello colorblocking!) more often than not.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want this to sound like a bitter diatribe, because I am most definitely not bitter. I enjoy blogging (most of the time!) and I'm not going to change the way I dress for the sake of readership. I greatly appreciate the readership that I have, and it's been great to encounter such supportive people. But it is interesting to observe the shifts that have taken place within the fashion blogging community and to see some of the unique voices succumb to the pressures of popularity.

What does this mean for the future of fashion blogging? I think something must change. It can't continue to function as a platform for business to plug their products, and as more bloggers become dissatisfied with the current structure, things will shift once again. I liked Sara's point that she doesn't want to be solely a fashion blog, and I think that applies to many of us, myself included. As such, I really want to make an effort to include more things on my blog other than outfit posts. What do you guys think about the issue?

Wow, an outfit without a scarf! I know, who am I, this is not me, I was abducted by aliens, etcetera etcetera. But really, this dress doesn't need much adornment. I got it last year while trapped in the horror that is College Station. Paired with my vintage riding boots that are a smidge too big and squeak like a dying mouse, it's perfect for fall! Speaking of boots, Urban Outfitters is having a great sale on boots right now and I might snag a less squeaky pair. As much as I love these riding boots, I do not enjoy turning heads for their seeming ability to speak.

This shirt always brings back fond memories of our summer trip to London last year. I'm a huge Beatles fan, so of course I dragged my parents to the Beatles store (right down the street from the Sherlock Holmes museum). London was completely gorgeous and there was so much life and vitality in the city, which only served to reinforce my dream of moving there after college. Better start saving my money now!

Today was one of those days where the time just seems to drag by and I just seem to drag everywhere else. This week has been incredibly busy, and coordinating projects, papers, quizzes, and reading assignments has left me beat. Seeing as today was probably the last day for a while that I'd be able to wear tights, I seized the opportunity. The temperature is supposed to creep back into the mid-80s next week, which leaves me wondering if fall and winter will just decide to skip us this year. There's nothing I love more than a good mixture of prints to enliven an outfit. Sometimes, I get stuck in a rut of wearing the same pieces together over and over (or variations of the same pieces), and I need a way to mix things up.

Happy Friday, my dear readers! I am extremely excited about this weekend because it is my university's fall break, meaning that I have a four day weekend and a three-day schoolweek next week. Can you say pumped? Anyway, sorry I haven't posted much these last few days! The combination of being sick and having a ton of work to do made for little free time. But I promise I'll make it up to you!

On to the outfit: there is seriously nothing better than the combination of black, white, and red. I think red will always be one of my favorite colors, next to neon green, of course. Guys. This sweater and skirt were thirty dollars total. Thirty. Both pieces are extremely versatile and definitely something I will wear often, and I love the look of black and white with a pop of red.

In other news, who else is super pumped that it is now October? Fall is pretty much the best time of the year due to a) sweaters and b) pumpkin-flavored things. And also my birthday and Thanksgiving. Which means pie. Lots and lots of pie.

Also every time I go home, my dog manages to get in my pictures because she has to come outside if someone is out there. Then she stands at the door and wants to go back in when she realizes you aren't going to pay attention to her.

I know I wear this skirt with these sneakers all the time, but I feel like they were made for each other. I tried to keep my outfit neutral today to make the shoes pop that much more. Butter London never ceases to suck all the money out of my wallet.

It's official: I am now unemployed. And surprisingly, I am okay with that. I had my last (extremely long) day at Banana Republic yesterday, and can now spend copious amounts of time doing schoolwork, of which I will be doing much of this week. I guess it's good timing that the ending of my stint as a part-time worker coincides with the week that I have a major assignment that I have to study or prepare for in almost every class. Such is life!

I think this is actually my favorite outfit out of the ones I've worn recently. Simple, kind of girly, but also a little sporty. Just the way I like it. Plus, one of my professors said my red shoes with my neutral outfit was "very creative." Does that count as some sort of fashion extra credit points?

PS--Take a look at that sweet futon. Eighty bucks at Target. Can't get classier than that.

Did you guys have a good weekend? I saw The Lion King in the theater with my mom and brother Friday (still cried when Mufasa died), and had to work all of last night and today. It was nice to see my family again after a few weeks away. Other than that, I haven't done much in the way of exciting activities.

At any rate! I wore this to work yesterday (minus the sneakers). I got this ginormous scarf at H&M last week, and am already in love with it. I think it's actually supposed to be some sort of shawl, but like I'll ever wear a shawl. Scarf it is! I am in dire need of some new dresses because this one and others are looking a little ragged. The first H&M opened in Dallas in August, and so far, I haven't been impressed. I've been to an H&M in Washington D.C. and London, both of which were pretty cool and had some great pieces. I've heard that the stock for each store is based on what the people in that location wear, and I've come to the conclusion that people in Dallas do not know how to dress! I did find this cool sweater at H&M recently, however, and it was pretty cheap to boot. I wish that the store had some cooler things (including more oversized sweaters and cute skirts), but what can you do? If you have an H&M in your area, what is it like? Have you found any pieces there you love? I want to hear about it!

I know last week was NYFW, but to be honest, I'm not particularly interested in what stomps down the runway. "Sacrilege!" you may gasp, but fashion that is completely unattainable for me in terms of price just doesn't appeal to me. I garner so much inspiration from regular people who have blogs, people who (by and large, although there are certainly exceptions) wear things that the average person can actually afford. Sure, the runways are great for inspiration, and I do enjoy the work of a few designers, but the thing I love most is seeing regular people approach the art of dressing in creative ways. I'd like to think that my blog can offer that sort of inspiration to people, although that may be presuming a bit much.

Anyway! As you can tell by the description, I am dressed in almost head-to-toe Zara as the result of a shopping trip this weekend (thank God I got payed is all I can say). I am really digging the motocross feel of these leggings, which have cool stitching on the knee. Believe it or not, these are the first pair of leggings I've ever owned. Looks like I'm breaking my promise to never wear leggings as pants.

It's been a little chillier than usual here in Texas, so it's time to break out the pants/pants that look pretty much like leggings because they are so tight. On another note, I finally resigned at my job on Wednesday. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It's times like these that I wish I was more assertive and knew how to better manage stress. I'm having some issues at work with scheduling, and between worrying about the impending confrontation and all the assignments I have due Tuesday, I'm a bundle of nerves. I wish I knew of a good way to relax, but every time I think about work or school, my stomach clenches so tightly, I feel like I'm going to vomit. I have to work this afternoon and we'll see if I have a job by the end of the night or not.

Anyway, sometimes keeping my outfit simple is all I can manage when I'm feeling run down. I've been wearing my Converse to death once again, and I am a-okay with that. Phew, sorry this post was such a downer! Hopefully once my work stuff is sorted, I'll be able to relax again.

It's official: I have an obsession with high top sneakers. I love the added interest that they give to an outfit and they are the most comfortable footwear option for slogging around campus all day. In other news, college is in full swing! I went to an Italian club meeting this afternoon, where the professor talked about going to eat at a bunch of Italian restaurants in Dallas over the course of the year. Pretty much any social event where food is involved, I'm there.

It's time to breathe a collective sigh because the week is finally over. And what a crazy week it's been! I found myself with little time to update my blog as I adjusted to the schedule that I have. Hello lovelies! Man, what a crazy couple of days it has been. I moved the rest of my things into my apartment yesterday and started my second year of college today. One of the advantages of my schedule (only two classes MWF) and close proximity to home is that I could come home this afternoon and bake cupcakes. Definitely a day well spent! Also, I have limited internet access this week, so I might not be able to post as much as I'd like. But rest assured, I will seek out the nearest Starbucks and try my hardest!

At any rate, I was at a loss as to what to wear for the first day of school. The original outfit I had planned would be too hot, so it was time for plan B: something 1950s inspired. When it doubt, that is what I automatically turn to. I wanted to do fifties with a bit of edge, and this dress fit the bill perfectly. I can certainly tell you that I got some sidelong glances at school today, but I'd like to think it's because people appreciated my bobby socks/penny loafers combo. ;)

I have gotten into the bad habit of taking any old piece of clothing that I don't like and cutting it up to make it something different. This American Apparel shirt that I got for Christmas last year fit very awkwardly, so I decided to hack the bottom off and see if that would improve it. I'm quite happy with the result! I like wearing shirts over dresses, and this is the perfect length for that.

In other news, I spent almost the entire day trying to put together an Ikea table and chairs with my mom. We managed to break one of the chairs and we can't figure out how to get the last leg onto the table. Clearly, that went well. Lessons learned from this experience: Ikea is a place of demon Swedish furniture and Satanic furniture designers.

I don't usually include purses in my outfit photos (and by "usually," I mean "never"), mainly because most of my bags are cheap and pretty raggedy. Somehow, purchasing lovely and unique bags falls by the wayside in the face of new dresses and shoes. I finally decided to acquire a nice purse that would last, and when I saw this gorgeous leather one for sale on Asos, I jumped. And I assure you, the matchy-ness of my shirt and bag was unintentional.

I also love how the details in this outfit really make it pop. The added sparkle on the flats and the flower design on the bag give it an extra little something. Me like.

Increase Your Capital

Hello lovelies! I'm finally back from my trip to D.C. and I can safely say that it was a blast. My plan to update from the city didn't work so well, mainly due to the fact that internet access was ten dollars a night at the hotel. I'm glad I brought comfortable clothes because we spent lots of time shlepping around the city, shopping, eating, and enjoying the sights. I don't have access to my mother's camera at the moment, so this will be only a part of the photos from our trip. Everyone should own a good pair of Chelsea boots. These boots are my absolute favorite pair and add just the right touch of mod/punk (I know, two things that don't really go together!) to any outfit. I've been seeing all sorts of excellent Chelsea boots floating around my favorite shops and I'm excited to pick up another pair this fall. Topshop has a pair with studs on the toes. I know, I drooled too.

I've been in a style rut lately. I find myself falling prey to the "I must wear what the other, cool fashion bloggers wear!" mentality, and haven't been wearing what I truly love. It is so easy to get caught up in the idea that buying the things that other people have will somehow make you like them or will make you feel better about yourself. I'm done with that. I've been so inspired by artists like Robyn and Yelle recently, strong women who have their own unique style and don't follow trends. They exude confidence and strength, and I want to have that!

Phew, I'm finally back! What a crazy weekend it's been. Rock climbing, wakeboarding, and good friends were all involved. Unfortunately, this left me with little time for outfit photos. But never fear! I come bearing fashion-related goodness today. I was feeling a bit Alexa Chung-like today, and wanted to channel her easy-going style for such a hot day. And I am so obsessed with this flower pin. It is an excellent replacement for necklaces (which I don't really like to wear).

Happy Friday, lovelies! Thank goodness it's the weekend, eh? I spent yesterday baking, laying poolside, and watching Sherlock with a high school pal. Definitely the life!

Today, I wanted to try taking photos in a different location than I usually do, because I know how boring pictures of me standing around are. So I trekked out into the grass of our yard, set up my tripod among the dog poops, and snapped these photos. The lighting is kind of off, but at least I tried! As you can tell, I'm nowhere near an expert photographer.

Okay, I know this is probably totally unsurprising, but I picked up two more Butter London nail polishes today. Can you say obsessed? I just can't resist the square bottles and glitter and excellent formula. Today's outfit was all about casual glam. I hate running errands in something ratty or dressed down, and whenever I have off work, I like to wear heels. These shorts are probably the most comfortable that I own (probably due to the fact that they are boyfriend shorts). They've definitely been a staple this summer!

How are you all doing this week? I hope you're staying cool in this crazy heat. My mom and I are taking a trip to D.C. in August, and if it's this hot, it'll be pretty miserable. Fingers crossed that the temperature will at least make it below 90 degrees!

This is a pretty typical work outfit for me. I finally picked up a cream blazer, something that has been on my wishlist for a while. I swear, I'll probably end up having this particular Urban Outfitters blazer in every color! I'm pretty bad about buying things I actually need when I go shopping. I tend to gravitate toward dresses and heels, while forgetting about the fact that I need basic things like blazers, blouses, and jeans. I am impressed by those people who can make a list of all the things they need and actually buy them when they shop for clothes. I certainly can't!

Hullo, Muggles (see, I was serious)! Having a good Saturday? I hope it is filled with good food and good people, as all Saturdays should be. I went shopping with my mom today because she had some coupons and that was highlight of my day. I'm supposed to go out tonight with some old high school chums and get frozen yogurt, my second favorite activity besides shopping. Clearly, it doesn't take a lot to make me happy. ~Now you know.~

At any rate, can I just say how comfortable these heels are? I can actually walk around in them for more than ten minutes without my feet screaming at me to take them off. I got them on super sale at Belk the other day, so I'd say that they are definitely a good deal! I can see myself getting plenty of mileage out of these once school begins again. And that's in about a month. Crazy, right? I still don't have an apartment or any of my text books or looked to see if I have any summer school work. Model student, right here.

Beauty Blitz

I thought I'd share something a little different with you guys today: some of my favorite beauty products. I'm by no means a makeup expert (my flirtations with colored eyeshadow ended in eyes that looked bruised), but I do have a few trusted products that I use often.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in nude: I've never used a tinted moisturizer until recently because my skin has been unusually dry this summer. I definitely understand all the hype behind Laura Mercier skin products now. This goes on like a dream, blends into a flawless finish, and makes your skin feel soft and smooth without being overly heavy. I bought the little to-go tube, but it's sold in 1.5 ounce sizes that come in a much broader range of colors.

Urban Decay Roller Girl eyeshadow palette: I've used Urban Decay eyeshadows before, and have always been a huge fan of their primer potion. This palette includes three nude and one bright pink eyeshadows, a pink lipgloss, a mini primer potion, and a mini 24/7 glide-on eye pencil. I love the shimmery neutral shades in this collection, and the pink adds a fun pop of color when applied along the lower lash line. As always, Urban Decay delivers!

Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Siren: This is the perfect true orange color for those of you who want to try the orange lip trend. I'm a big fan of Revlon's lipsticks (I have probably twenty different colors), and this is color is lovely.

MAC lipstick in Syrup: This is my go-to lipstick shade for everyday, and it works layered with other lipsticks and lip glosses. As you can see, it's almost gone, so I need to go get another one!

MAC lipstick in Viva Glam Gaga: I'm pretty sure this lipstick was limited edition and is now sold out, but it's definitely a great color for layering. Swiping a coat over Syrup creates the perfect shade of pink.

Butter London nail polish in British Racing Green: I absolutely adore these nail polishes. I'm one of those weird people who gets extremely excited when a new nail polish collection is released. This color is gorgeous and has a subtle shimmer that adds an extra edge.

Essie nail polish in Mod Squad: I love Essie nail polishes and find that they dry really fast and come in such a fun range of colors. This pink shade is super bright and perfect for summer!

So that's it! I hope you enjoyed this look into my makeup cabinet (trust me, I have waaaaay more makeup in there than what I've shown you!). I also wear a cat's eye often, but the gel liner I use now isn't the best and I wouldn't recommend it to you guys. What about you, dear readers? I've been saving these jeans to wear when it gets cooler, but I couldn't wait any longer. Considering it will probably be a hundred degrees for another two months, it would be a long wait. I love how long these jeans make my legs look, but the only downside is that I have to wear them with heels. My feet are not happy with me.

I also like how flipping up the collar of this blazer that I wear all the time makes it look fresh. It's always awesome to find new ways to wear a wardrobe staple. What are some new ways that you've found to wear favorite garments?

What's up, Muggles? I think I should start referring to everyone as "Muggles" to keep the HP spirit alive. THE POTTER MADNESS WILL NEVER END. Anyway, how was your day? Good? Great? Supermegafoxyawesomehot? Fab. My mom and I went to the British Emporium over in Grapevine today, and got loads of British candy. That is pretty much the only thing we buy there. Regardless, it is a lovely little shop and the owners are very sweet. And it is full of candy and Digestives, so that is a plus.

On to the outfit! Sometimes, simplicity is key. I love the color and design of this dress, and I didn't want to hide that behind a jacket or sweater. It makes me think of listening to Beach Boys songs and hanging out at Newport Beach, two things that I have done but not simultaneously (one day!). I also enjoy how the cloudy weather that happened for a total of fifteen minutes this afternoon managed to make me look like a ghost. I have a tan, I swear!

Happy post-Potter day, everyone! I don't even have words to describe how awesome the movie was last night. To share that experience with fellow fans out in full force was something I really enjoyed. Now that the post-Potter depression is settling in, I can only hope that there will be some more Potter-y goodness in the future (and not just Pottermore!).

As for my outfit, I made another poor choice and wore a scarf and blazer despite the heat. Whatever, I will never give up my scarves, even for scorching hot weather. And yes, I did paint my nails Slytherin colors last night in memory of Snape (but also because I have no blue and bronze. Ravenclaw foreva).

On to the outfit! As you may have noticed, I cut and colored my hair today! I feel more like myself with shorter hair. At any rate, I'm always looking for different ways to style this strapless dress from Urban Outfitters. I am not a huge fan of anything strapless because I end up being paranoid that it'll slip down. So I like the fact that this shirt covers up all of the strapless nonsense and gives it a little '60s vibe to boot.

Body image and blogging

I just came across this awesome post by Gala Darling and had to share it. I think the issue of body acceptance and body diversity is one that needs to be more heavily addressed in the fashion blog community. I especially like the comment that someone made in Gala's post that fashion bloggers have all started to look the same. Personally, the thinness of other bloggers doesn't bother me because I know that some people are just naturally thin, like myself. However, there is no denying that many of the blogs I follow and that are popular are run by thin girls. Does this say something about our society? I don't have an answer to that. What I do know is that no matter the weight of the blogger, if they have fabulous outfits and interesting articles, I will enjoy their blog.

So what do you think? Do successful fashion bloggers become that way in part because of their weight? Does the weight of a blogger effect how you perceive that person? Let me know in the comments!

When it comes to comments on my posts, I definitely read each one and really appreciate the fact that you guys take time to leave me something special! However, do you usually reply to each comment individually? I'm unsure as to how the whole commenting thing works, and I thought I'd turn to my readers for help! After all, I just figured out how to resize my photos. Clearly, I'm neither technologically savvy nor an expert on blogging.

Dear readers, I have an important word of advice for you: never, EVER, wear heels when you have to walk across a college campus in 102 degree heat. You will hate your life. I had to make a trip back up to SMU today to register for classes, since there was a mix up last week at orientation. Thankfully, my advisor is a cool lady because my mom and I arrived thirty minutes late due to two accidents on the highway that caused major traffic. Quite a day.

How cool are the sleeves of this top? It reminds me of a kimono and is so loose and flowy. Way to go, Forever 21.

Also, I am fantastically dim-witted and finally figured out how to make my photos larger and better looking. So yes, new, larger photo size from now on. Wahoo.

Sorry for the lack of posts this week, guys! I have literally been out of the house for most of the past several days and have had no time to take outfit photos.

This has been my other go-to ensemble this summer. When I want something more casual and easy, I just throw on these shorts, t-shirt, and blazer and I'm ready to go. And a little secret: the white t-shirts I wear are men's Hanes undershirts. They come two to a pack and are the comfiest things ever.

In other news, I'm close to giving up on growing out my pixie and just getting it cut again. It is at such an awkward stage right now and I have these little wispy hairs hanging over my ears.

Phew, I've had an extremely busy (but fun) weekend and I'm glad things are starting to settle down a bit! Honestly, I think a scarf and a cute skirt or dress has been my go-to outfit this summer, whether I'm running errands or at work. I love the way a scarf can add an extra something to an outfit. I do love the look of leather, black and white, and more edgy pieces, but I think my girly side is definitely in charge on most occasions.

I love Harry Potter. I actually went shopping with my mom today because my butt has gotten bigger and none of my pants fit. It was super hot today, so I wanted something comfortable and light. And I can't resist a chance to mix patterns! My mom and I ended up getting ice cream at this excellent little shop while we were out, so that really isn't helping the big butt situation. OH WELP.

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. Sometimes, you just need to take a break and some time out to enjoy hanging with family and friends. I promise to be a good blogger next week and give you all more outfits!
